On Tuesday, 13 April 2021, the ITERA Food Technology Study Program visited the Bandar Lampung Food and Drug Monitoring Center (Balai Besar POM), located at Jln. Dokter Susilo No.105, Pahoman, North Teluk Betung District, Bandar Lampung City. The visit was conducted to follow up on the MoU agreed by both parties, ITERA Food Technology and the Lampung Balai Besar POM. The visit was attended by Amalia Wahyuningtyas S.Si M.Si, M. Rizky Ramanda S.TP, M.TP, and Syahrizal Nasution S.Pt M.Si as ITERA Food Technology Lecturers, and Dr. Jabosar Ronggur H. Panjaitan ST., MT. as Secretary of the ITERA Department of Process and Bioengineering.

The Food Technology party was welcomed by the Lampung Balai Besar POM, represented by Drs Zamroni Apt,
and Purwadi M.Si from the Information and Communication Substance section of the Lampung Balai Besar POM. Both parties held a discussion for about 2 hours on possible cooperation in the near future.
The Lampung Balai Besar POM has fairly complete laboratories, so based on the discussion, they can be used by ITERA Food Technology students to carry out Work Practice or Internships as part of implementing the Merdeka Curriculum. The Lampung Balai Besar POM explained that, even under pandemic conditions, Balai Besar POM opens opportunities for ITERA Food Technology students to carry out work practice or internships. However, the number of students who can do so is very limited, so the permit application process must be prepared as early as possible.
The Lampung Balai Besar POM is also open to cooperation in the field of food safety supervision. Balai Besar POM can assist with community service cooperation in food safety up to services in laboratory testing processes. In this regard, several community service activities that the ITERA Food Technology study program will carry out in the future will collaborate and work in synergy to jointly advance the community’s economy, especially in food and its licensing regulations.
The discussion between ITERA Food Technology and the Lampung Balai Besar POM ended with a group photo and a laboratory visit. The Lampung Balai Besar POM laboratory covers chemistry and microbiology, which can be used for testing food, drug, and cosmetic samples.
