A total of 61 students of the ITERA Food Technology Study Program appeared very enthusiastic on Saturday morning (20/3) to welcome the first meeting of the Tekpang Achievement Room 2021 program, held online. This program is a scholarship in the form of special mentoring given to students of the ITERA Food Technology Study Program to support their readiness to achieve more in both academic and non-academic fields during their studies at university level.
Students who join this program will receive various softskill trainings, covering technical skills related to preparing for various competitions as well as character development as mental preparation for prospective champions. The program is expected to also increase students’ motivation to be more productive in producing various works and to be ready to face greater challenges when entering the world beyond campus.
The first meeting of the Tekpang Achievement Room 2021 program, themed “Becoming an Outstanding Student Amid Many Assignments,” was enlivened today by the presence of Vice President – Special Projects of Gojek, Leo Wibisono Arifin. He is a graduate of the undergraduate program in Food Science and Technology at IPB University, known for his various achievements during his university studies. He was Outstanding Student 1 of IPB in 2011 and National Outstanding Student 1 in the same year. Previously, he also appeared on television by participating in The Scholar Indonesia program broadcast by a national private TV station in Indonesia.
Through a friend to friend talk session at the first meeting of the Tekpang Achievement Room 2021 program, the man, born 29 years ago in Mataram, NTB, shared various highly inspiring personal stories. He gave much light yet meaningful advice: instill a “growth mindset” and do not hesitate to face conflict when collaborating in a group. He repeatedly urged students not to hesitate to ask questions and request constructive feedback in order to become individuals ready to spread broad benefits to society. Through the life journey he shared, listeners could also conclude that the obstacles faced by each individual can be overcome in various creative ways. Not everyone is born with a lot of privilege or “ease of life,” so the option to choose is to start by knowing oneself and then maximizing one’s potential. In closing, this humble figure proved that a man who was initially known as introverted, lazy, and without clear direction in his youth still had the opportunity to improve himself through various additional activities outside lectures. Heavy coursework is not a sufficient reason to prevent a student from achieving.
