Lampung – Lecturers of Food Technology at Institut Teknologi Sumatera participated in a workshop titled “Basic Chemical Safety and Security (Basic CSS) and Chemical Inventory Management System (CIMS)” held by the Chemistry Study Program in collaboration with FMIPA Universitas Brawijaya on Thursday (Oct 11). The speakers in this workshop included Muhamad A. Martoprawiro, Ph.D, who presented on the Chemical Inventory Management System (CIMS), and Dr. Rurini Retnowati from FMIPA Universitas Brawijaya, who presented on Basic Chemical Safety and Security (Basic CSS). This workshop aimed to provide information regarding the urgency of chemical handling and laboratory operations in chemistry labs, particularly concerning safety and security.

The participation of these ITERA Food Technology lecturers serves as preparation for the establishment of an integrated laboratory planned to begin next year. Proper chemical handling and careful inventory planning are essential, given that the upcoming integrated laboratory will serve thousands of students conducting practical work every semester.

Since this year, ITERA has continuously developed laboratory facilities to enhance student learning capabilities. This is evidenced by the serious commitment to constructing Engineering Laboratory 1, which will be followed by Engineering Laboratories 2 and 3 in 2019.
