The Food Technology Study Program also participated in the activity Itera Open House 2025 which was held on Saturday, 6 December 2025, at the General Lecture Building 2 of Institut Teknologi Sumatera (ITERA). The event, which was attended by 1.032 students from equivalent SMA/SMK schools from various regions in Lampung or outside the province, provided participants the opportunity to directly experience the academic atmosphere at ITERA.
The Open House, organized by the Center for New Student Admissions (PMB) ITERA, aims to introduce students to the characteristics of each study program, career opportunities, and strategies for choosing a major before participating in the new student admission selection.
Bearing the theme “Explore Your Aim”, this year’s activity was designed to be more interactive. The students were invited to explore 41 undergraduate study programs, including the Food Technology Study Program, by moving from one class to another. In the Food Technology lecture hall, lecturers and students welcomed the participants with presentations on food science introduction, simple practicum demonstrations, and the presentation of research and food technology innovation results being developed at ITERA.
The academic atmosphere became more felt when participants engaged in a question-and-answer session about food processing technology, food industry prospects, and research opportunities related to food security, product innovation, and utilization of local resources. The enthusiasm of the students indicated a high interest in the food sector and broad career opportunities.
Apart from academic activities in class, Open House participants also joined a campus tour using Smart Bus Rapid Transit ITERA to see facilities such as laboratories, research centers, and campus green areas. The entire series of activities was designed so that students could experience ITERA’s learning ecosystem comprehensively, including how food research and innovation are developed in the campus environment.
The Head of the New Student Admissions Center (PMB) at ITERA, Dr. Abdul Rajak, M.Si., said that ITERA targets an intake of around 5.000 new students in 2026 for undergraduate level and one Master of Physics program. The Open House is expected to be a means for prospective students to understand their interests and determine their study choices correctly.
This activity became more lively with the presence of ITERA’s research and innovation center such as ITERA Lampung Astronomical Observatory (OAIL), ITERA Botanical Garden, as well as the Safe Campus program socialization.
Through participation in the Itera Open House 2025, the ITERA Food Technology Study Program is committed to introducing the scope of food science, research opportunities, and career prospects relevant to industry needs, while also providing students with insight into the importance of innovation and technology in ensuring future food security and quality.
