To introduce the food industry to the first-batch students and as part of the activities for the Introduction to Food Technology course, an Industrial Visit was held on Saturday, November 17, 2018. During this activity, the students visited one of the industries utilizing the most abundantly produced agricultural natural resources in Lampung Province, namely PT Sinar Pematang Mulia 2, located in Central Lampung Regency.
Through this industrial visit, students are expected to learn about one of the career prospects for graduates of the Food Technology Study Program, as well as to understand the processes related to the knowledge they will study in the Food Technology Study Program of Institut Teknologi Sumatera. Consequently, at the end of this industrial visit, students—divided into small groups—are expected to complete an assignment in the form of a written paper/essay and a presentation.
The paper must clearly include several elements, among others: the profile of the visited industry, the organizational structure, the production process within the industry, quality control in the industry, industrial waste management, and several documentation photos. All of these elements must be presented in separate chapters, with the first chapter containing an introduction consisting of the background and objectives.
Each group is allowed to share data and information, but is strictly prohibited from committing plagiarism or simply copy-pasting. All writings must be the original thoughts of the members of each respective group. This is necessary to train the students’ abilities and skills in producing written works.
The written work, in both softfile and hardfile formats, must be submitted a maximum of 14 days after the industrial visit takes place.
