Zayna, an ITERA Food Technology Student, Wins a Championship with Tofu Dregs

Zayna Sayyida Ulya successfully represented the ITERA Food Technology study program as a student who won a competition at Universitas Darussalam Gontor Ponorogo in September 2020.

On this occasion, Zayna won 3rd place at the national level in the business plan competition “Food Product Diversification Innovation in the Industry 4.0 Era,” organized by Universitas Darussalam Gontor Ponorogo as part of the Science and Technology festival. The team led by Zayna consisted of ITERA students from various other study programs, namely Karlin Aldea (Atmospheric and Planetary Science), Reksa Bagaskara (Ocean Engineering), and Nanang Kurniawan (Architectural Engineering).

Zayna saw an opportunity in soybean tofu dregs, of which only a small percentage had been processed into oncom, with the rest simply discarded into the surrounding environment and polluting it. According to Zayna, soybean tofu dreg waste, which people have regarded as useless, can in fact be processed into food with resale value. This tofu dreg waste is what Zayna used as the raw material for making nuggets, and it made her a winner.

We hope Zayna’s achievement will inspire other Food Technology students to keep creating so that food remains relevant in the industry 4.0 era. (ZAT)
