To prepare students for the world of work, on Saturday, 23 April 2022, the Food Technology Study Program – Sumatra Institute of Technology (TP-ITERA) held a guest lecture conducted online for the Dairy Technology and Processing course. This course discusses the characteristics, composition, nutrition, microbiology, as well as processing methods and processed products of milk.
This guest lecture was held to align the lecture material already obtained with real conditions in the industrial sector. The guest lecture invited a speaker from PT Indolakto, represented by Mr. Fierzha Anugrah Putra, S.Pt., M.Kom, who is the branch head of PT. Indolakto Distribusi Bandung. PT. Indolakto is a subsidiary under PT. Indofood Group and focuses on the dairy processing sector, including UHT milk, sweetened condensed creamer, ice cream and butter.
This guest lecture covered several important points, including (1) regulations/legal aspects of dairy products applied in industry, namely product quality adjusted to expectations and applicable regulatory standards, food safety and food halal status, (2) ice cream categories, (3) milk processing process and handling, (4) and critical temperature factors in milk processing, especially for ice cream.
Students of the Dairy Technology and Processing course were very enthusiastic about this guest lecture, because in addition to the interesting material delivered, Mr. Fierzha also shared PT.Indolakto recruitment information and information on Practical Lectures, as well as motivation for the world of work.
