Lampung, 6 October 2026 — The Study Program of Food Technology, Institut Teknologi Sumatera (ITERA), welcomed a campus visit from SMA IT DAARUL ‘ILMI in order to get to know the world of higher education more closely, especially the field of Food Technology. This visit was an opportunity for students to gain insight into knowledge, prospects, and various learning and research activities at the Study Program of Food Technology at ITERA.
The delegation from SMA IT DAARUL ‘ILMI was accompanied directly by Headmaster, Imam Purnama, S.Pd. Gr., along with six accompanying teachers. The arrival of the delegation was welcomed by the lecturers of the Study Program of Food Technology, namely Afrida Nurwulan, S.Pi., M.Si., Hanifa Bagus, S.T.P., M.Sc., and Muhammad Rizky Ramanda, S.TP., M.TP.

The activity began with the presentation of a plaque as a form of appreciation and symbol of friendship between the Faculty of Industrial Technology at ITERA and SMA IT DAARUL ‘ILMI. The plaque was presented reciprocally by both institutions before the activity continued with a more in-depth introduction to the Study Program of Food Technology.
The enthusiasm of the students was visible during the activity. The students gained an understanding that Food Technology is not only related to food consumed daily, but is a field of science that integrates various disciplines to produce food that is safe, good-quality, nutritious, innovative, and sustainable.
In the knowledge introduction session, the students were introduced to several main fields that are part of Food Technology, namely Food Microbiology, Food Engineering, and Food Chemistry and Food Nutrition. Through the explanation, the students were guided to understand how microorganisms play a role in food, how engineering principles are used in the food processing process, and how chemistry and nutritional components play a role in determining the characteristics and quality of a food product.
Not only receiving theoretical explanations, the students also had the opportunity to visit three laboratories of the Study Program of Food Technology at ITERA, namely Sensory Laboratory, Process Engineering Laboratory, and Food Chemistry and Food Nutrition Laboratory. The laboratory visit provided direct experience for students about the learning and research environment that supports the education process in the field of Food Technology.
The visit activity was then concluded with a group photo as documentation and memory. Afterwards, the delegation from SMA IT DAARUL ‘ILMI continued the series of activities by following the agenda of the New Student Admission (PMB) at ITERA which was held at Building C, Auditorium.
Through this campus visit activity, the Study Program of Food Technology at ITERA hopes to be able to introduce the field of Food Technology more broadly to the younger generation and provide a picture of the learning experience at the university. This activity is also part of efforts to build positive relationships and collaboration between ITERA and the secondary school in supporting students to recognize the potential of education and career in the food field.
