Lampung – Food Technology Study Program of Institut Teknologi Sumatera (ITERA) in collaboration with PT. LabMania Indonesia in Bekasi held an online training event with the topic "Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)" on Monday (6/7). The activity was attended by around 150 participants consisting of lecturers, researchers, laboratory assistants, students, and the general public. This GLP training invited Mr. Ivan Sarifudin as a BNSP certified instructor and as SR Laboratory Journey Partner of LabMania.
During the event, it opened by screening the ITERA profile video and an introduction about PT LabMania Indonesia. The event was then divided into two sessions: the first session was a presentation of material by the resource person, and the second session was a discussion between the participants and the resource person.
This Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) training activity discussed preparation and important matters related to work safety while working inside the Laboratory. Some of the materials provided included proper handling and storage of chemicals, hazard identification in the use of chemicals in the Laboratory, chemical handling incompatible, and proper labeling techniques. Training participants are expected to be able to apply correct laboratory technique applications.
In the second session, the training participants were very enthusiastic in asking questions related to the material provided by the resource person. Many participants commented that the material from this training was very useful for lecturers, researchers, laboratory assistants, and students who naturally plunge directly into working in the Laboratory. Especially for students who in the learning process must take laboratory practicums, where they must comply with OHS (K3) SOPs in the laboratory to avoid work accidents, besides that the knowledge possessed can be useful for students when entering the workforce. For lecturer, researcher, and laboratory assistant participants, this training is also useful in understanding and applying the concept of laboratory standardization for laboratory quality assurance. One example of its application is the concept Preventive Maintenance the use of laboratory materials and equipment. During the training, the event was also enlivened with a quiz with prizes and IG challenge for training participants with the theme of Laboratory Work Safety. The organization of this training is expected to provide additional insight regarding the concept of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
