Lampung – Food Technology Lecturers Participated in a Process Simulation Training Using Software held by the Chemical Engineering study program of ITERA, Monday (May 22) and Tuesday (May 23). This training aims to introduce lecturers to the importance of software-based technology as part of the Implementation towards the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

The training invited trainers Dr. -Ing Ir. Anton Irawan, M.T. and Hafid Alwan, S.T., M.T., from the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa, Banten. During the event, the training participants were equipped with knowledge on the operation of Aspen Plus software and its application in industry. According to the training trainer, Dr. -Ing Ir. Anton Irawan, M.T., process simulation is the cheapest method for the initial identification of industrial processes. “With simulation using software, we do not need to bother buying equipment first, but we can more easily create the concept, also at a lower cost.”

In the 2018/2019 Food Technology curriculum plan, one of the compulsory courses to be implemented is Plant Design. The use of this application is expected to provide new knowledge for Students to design detailed food production processes with specific specifications.

During the training, several important processes and their applications with Aspen Plus were studied, such as in piping, compressors, separation, heat exchangers, drying, and combustion processes. In addition to the Food Technology study program, the training also invited lecturers from Physics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Energy System Engineering, Agro-industrial Technology, and Biosystems Engineering.
