Students of ITERA's KKN Reconnaissance Strengthen Sriwedari Village as a MOCAF Industrial Center through Mechanization and Product Innovation

Students in the KKN Rekognisi ITERA, which consisted of Students of the Study Program of Mechanical Engineering and Food Technology, carried out the program “Strengthening the Capacity of Sriwedari Village as a MOCAF Industry Center through Mechanization and Value-Added Product Innovation.” The program aims to optimize local cassava potential through the application of appropriate technology and the development of food products based on Modified Cassava Flour (MOCAF).

As part of the program, Students of Mechanical Engineering developed a cutting machine and designed a sieve machine to support the process of producing MOCAF flour. The two technologies were aimed at helping the Women Farmers Group (KWT) of Sriwedari Village in improving cassava processing efficiency. The cutting machine helps the material preparation process, while the design of the sieve machine was intended to help the particle separation process so as to produce flour with a more uniform size.

The resulting MOCAF flour was later developed by Students of Food Technology into a value-added food product. Through the refining process, MOCAF is processed into MOCHIPS cassava chips and crispy MOCAF brownies. The innovation is an effort to increase the diversification of MOCAF utilization and to create products that have the potential to be developed and marketed by the community of Sriwedari Village.

The collaboration between Students of Mechanical Engineering and Food Technology presents an integrated series of developments, starting from mechanization support in the MOCAF flour production process to the development of its downstream products. The synergy of these two fields of science is expected to improve the capacity of the KWT in processing local cassava potential while also encouraging the application of technology and food innovation at the village level.

Through the KKN Rekognisi ITERA program, Students also contributed to the development of the local economic potential of Sriwedari Village. With support from mechanization and product diversification, Sriwedari Village is expected to be able to strengthen its potential as a MOCAF industry center as well as increase the added value and sustainability of local cassava utilization.
