Bandar Lampung, June 17, 2026 — Students of the Study Program Food Technology, class of 2024, conducted an educational visit to the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) in Bandar Lampung on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. This activity aims to improve students’ understanding of the drug and food control system in Indonesia and the role of BPOM in ensuring the safety, quality, and benefits of products circulating in the community.
BPOM is a government agency that carries out supervision of drugs and foods in accordance with the provisions of applicable laws and regulations. Through this visit, students gained insight into various aspects of supervision, ranging from product registration processes, laboratory testing, product distribution supervision, to enforcement action against violations in the fields of drugs and foods.
During the activity, students received direct presentations from BPOM speakers on the agency’s tasks and functions, the pre-market and post-market supervision mechanisms, as well as the importance of the community’s role in supporting food safety. In addition, participants were also introduced to various education and assistance programs provided by BPOM to business actors, especially micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM), so that they are able to produce safe, quality products and comply with regulatory requirements.
In carrying out its duties, BPOM has a vision to build highly capable human resources in the field of drugs and foods, facilitate the development of the drug and food business, especially micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM), improve the effectiveness of supervision and enforcement against crimes in the field of drugs and foods, and realize clean, effective, and trustworthy public governance in providing public services.

In Lampung Province, BPOM has an implementing unit located in Bandar Lampung and Tulang Bawang Regency to strengthen supervision coverage in the local area. The presence of BPOM in the region is expected to be able to increase community protection from drugs and foods that do not meet safety and quality standards.
Through this educational visit activity, students are expected to understand the application of food technology science in regulatory and food safety supervision aspects, as well as increase awareness of the importance of collaboration between academics, government, and business actors in realizing a safe and qualified food system.
