Lampung – Every year, the Rector of ITERA, Prof. Ofyar Z. Tamin, M.Sc., Ph.D., conducts a roadshow to all study programs. In 2019, ITERA Food Technology had the opportunity to join the roadshow with the Rector, together with two other study programs, Biosystems Engineering and Agricultural Industrial Technology, on Wednesday (10/7).
During his visit, Prof. Ofyar explained the importance of building campus quality based on 5 requirements, namely (1) lecturers, (2) students, (3) facilities and infrastructure, (4) curriculum, and (5) alumni. These five requirements are the spearhead for Sumatra Institute of Technology to become a Center of Excellence in the future. According to the Rector, quality improvement is being carried out as quickly as possible, for example through the establishment of the ITERA International Office (IIO), which facilitates lecturers who wish to pursue doctoral studies, and the organization of various student exchange programs for students.
Prof. Ofyar also emphasized that the curriculum must be aligned with the undergraduate program and contain 3 elements: (1) Sumatran local resources; (2) product downstreaming; and (3) the industrial revolution 4.0. Prof. Ofyar hopes that, with ITERA in Sumatra, the scientific capabilities of prospective engineers can be improved for the benefit of the island of Sumatra. (HAP)
