Lecturers of the Food Technology study program, together with the Department of Production and Industrial Technology and lecturers of the Environmental Engineering study program, visited PT Great Giant Pineapple in Terbanggi Besar, Central Lampung, on Tuesday (9/7). During the visit, the delegation held a dialogue with the company, particularly regarding the opportunities and challenges faced by the world’s largest pineapple exporter.

At the event, PT Great Giant Pineapple welcomed the visit, which is a follow-up to the signing of the MoU and cooperation agreement between the two parties. The Senior Manager of Sustainability at PT GGP, Arief Fatullah, outlined the many challenges at GGP, particularly in sustainability, in its goal of becoming a Zero Waste company. “We are currently making every effort so that all waste in the process chain can be utilized optimally, so that waste that was once a cost to the company becomes money and has resale value.”

PT Great Giant Pineapple is the world’s largest pineapple canning producer, with exports to 63 countries in total and a raw pineapple capacity of 2000-2500 tons per day. The company is part of PT Great Giant Foods, which also produces a number of food products, such as Sunpride fresh fruit, Hometown milk, fresh meat, “Belfood” nuggets, and “Umas Jaya” Tapioca. Going forward, the relationship will be strengthened through further cooperation between the two parties.
