A group of students from the class of 2018 carried out a Food Materials Knowledge Practicum visit on Monday (28/10). This time, the visit was made to Gisting Dairy Farm, Tanggamus. During the visit, students gained the experience of interacting directly and “absorbing” knowledge about dairy cattle farming, milking, and processing milk into pasteurized milk.
Gisting Dairy Farm is a farm that has been operating since 2017. The owner of Gisting Dairy Farm, Andrio Yunata, said that the milk produced by this farm is then taken to Bandar Lampung to be used as further raw material. The challenges in milk processing in Lampung, continued Rio, as the owner is nicknamed, are highly varied, ranging from the potential biogas produced and processing into other products, to the supply of livestock feed, which is still rarely found in Gisting, considering that plantations in Gisting are generally dominated by vegetables.
